Just two grown-up kids
Back in 2024, Aisha replied to Reio's comment under a running post online. We went running together and quickly became friends. Over the next year we completed multiple sidequests together and eventually realized we're both just two silly, hopefully-soon-to-become-full-time sidequesters. Like we're both adults who refused to grow up. And from there, we decided to build One More Sidequest to reach others like us.
And it all started from a single comment on the internet. Crazy to think about it.
But that's what One More Sidequest is about:
We're not here to give you another thing to finish. You already have enough of tasks "to finish" in your life. We're here to give you a reason to start.
Here's a few sidequests we've done
Aish span a globe blindfolded to decide where her first solo destination should be. She ended up in the mountains of Lebanon
Reio finished a 270km ultramarathon in the Sahara Desert just to see what it feels like to do something most would consider impossible (Reio: feelsgoodman)
Aish travelled to the worlds northern-most city, on an island called Svalbard, to see the vault that holds every seed in the world in case any of them become extinct (didn't see it tho but did take a nap on a frozen waterfall 🤓)
Reio spent almost a 1000€ flying to Switzerland for one day, to a small town called Zermatt, just to eat a piece of Toblerone chocolate in front of the mountain that's on the logo. Totally worth it
What is a sidequest, anyway?
A sidequest is anything you do for no other reason that curiosity.
It's not because it's productive or looks good on LinkedIn (is there really anyone who actually enjoys LinkedIn?). Not for the Instagram reel or because someone told you to do it.
It's for the story you'll tell. For the feeling of standing at the edge of something unknown and being excited to see what's on the other side. For the version of yourself that exists on the other side of saying yes.
The ONLY reason to go on a sidequest is that you're curious enough to do it.
The word comes from video games
In gaming terms you've got your main quest — the world-saving, the narrative arc. But real players know the main quest isn't where the game lives.
It's in the sidequests. The detours. The weird little missions that don't move the plot forward, but give the game that little something-something that makes every player's experience completely their own.
You'd spend an hour helping a stranger find their lost goat and come out of it with a new skill unlock, an XP boost, an unexpected friendship crucial for the main story, and a rare item.
The value of completing sidequests is nothing new to gamers because they understand one simple truth:
The sidequests you go on shape your main quest.
Life is exactly the same.
That's why we started One More Sidequest
There's something that happens when you follow a thread of curiosity with no destination in mind.
You come back to yourself a little. You experience versions of yourself you wouldn't have found any other way.
Some people collect stamps. Some collect qualifications.
We're into collecting experiences you'll still be talking about in ten years.
